Japanese: 小野 大輔 (Ono Daisuke)

DoB: May 4 1978

Blood Type: O

Height: 174cm

Weight: 65kg

Years Active: 2002 – present

Daisuke Ono is a Japanese voice actor and singer born in Kochi Prefecture who works for Mausu Promotion. He won the fourth Seiyuu Awards for ‘Best Voice Actor’ for his role as Sebastian Michaelis in Kuroshitsuji. He is one of the most famous seiyuus in Japan at the moment. Daisuke Ono attended Nihon University’s College of Art where he studied to be a TV broadcaster. Due to criticism from his professor, he ended up with an interest for acting. He began his career as a voice actor, playing minor characters for the TV station Television Kanagawa. He made his debut as a voice actor in 2002 but only got attention in 2005 with the role of Kunisaki Yukito on AIR TV. In the 2006, Daisuke voiced Itsuki Koizumi, a main character of the popular anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and increased his popularity with anime fans. He started his career as a pop singer in 2007 with the mini-album ‘Hinemosu’.

Acting Career

Daisuke’s voice acting career began in 2002 but he gained recognition in 2005.

He is close friends with fellow seiyuu Hiroshi Kamiya and both have starred in many anime series together:

In Durarara!!, Daisuke portrays Shizuo Heiwajima whilst Hiroshi portrays Izaya Orihara.
In Working!!, Daisuke voices Jun Sato while Hiroshi voices Hiroomi Soma.
In Uraboku, Daisuke voices Hotsuma Renjou while Hiroshi voices Kuroto Hourai.

Discography

Albums

2007: ‘Hinemosu’
2008: ‘Amaoto’,’Manatsu no Spica’
2009: ‘Kazahana’, ‘Kinmohusei’
2010: ‘Netsuretsu ANSWER’
2011: ‘DELIGHT’
2012: ‘Lunar Maria’

Extras

Strange fact but he dislikes raisins and loves Chinese noodles, nuts and almonds. He can also play the piano!

During the time spent recording for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, he was the first of the voice actors who learned the animated choreography shown during the ending theme song Hare Hare Yukai. He is also a major fan of the Gundam series as it is often the topic of his radio show ‘Ono Daisuke no GIG ra Night!’ whether it is about the anime series or collecting Gundam figurines. Incidentally, he voiced Sven Cal Bayan, protagonist of the ONA Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer and Woolf Enneacle, supporting character of the second generation of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Gundam FTW!

I really love Daisuke Ono, he’s a voice acting legend! I refuse to watch an anime if he’s not in it. The only exceptions are if the series has good animation or if there are other seiyuus that I like starring in them. Yes, I’m on about Mamoru Miyano mainly (^^)

Right now I’m watching Natsuyuki Rendezvous which has Yuichi Nakamura and Jun Fukuyama in. I’ve watched one episode already and it’s already making me think ‘what the heck am I watching?!’

Oh well, lets hope that I’ll like this after watching a certain series that left me upset…*Looks at La storia della Arcana Famiglia*

Tomokazu Sugita

Moving on to Tomokazu Sugita, the man with the godly voice that I love oh so much!

Name: Tomokazu Sugita

Japanese: 杉田 智和 (Sugita Tomokazu)

DoB: October 11 1980

Blood Type: B

Height: 178cm

Weight: 57kg

Years Active: 2000 – present

Tomokazu Sugita is a voice actor born in Saitama Prefecture employed by Atomic Monkey.

Best known for his role as Gintoki in Gintama, he also voices Kyon in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Ragna the Bloodedge in Blazblue. He is also one of the three hosts on the radio show Bururaji (BlueRadio) promoting the videogame Blazblue which is produced and released on Nico Nico Douga. The other two hosts are Kanako Kondou and Asami Imai, who also voice characters in Blazblue.

He and fellow seiyuu – Ken Narita – are sometimes referred to as “brothers” due to a joke made during Live Pastel Collection 2003. During an Omaera No Tame Darou event, hosts Toshiyuki Morikawa and Nobuyuki Hiyama asked Tomokazu how they were similar. His response was that both of them “rarely blink”.

Tomokazu has a close friendship with fellow seiyuu Yuichi Nakamura since 2001. Both play male leads in two anime adapted from visual novels, Yuichi Aizawa of Kanon and Tomoya Okazaki of Clannad, respectively. At the 33rd Anime Grand Prix, Tomokazu’s character Gintoki Sakata won the most favorite male character which means his character roles consecutively won the most favourite male character in 2009 and 2010 Anime Grand Prix. Uniquely, those characters are from different anime: Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009) and Gintoki Sakata from Gintama (2010). Tomokazu and Yuichi also work together in the Blazblue series as the protagonist Ragna and antagonist Hazama respectively.

In 2010 he was part of a live-action film, Wonderful World, along with fellow voice actors, Mamoru Miyano, Tomokau Seki, Rikiya Koyama, Yuka Hirata, Showtaro Morikubo and Daisuke Namikawa.

Tomokazu won ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in the Third Seiyuu Awards.

I love this man. I seriously do! He’s like a god with that low and powerful voice, it literally sends shivers up my spine whenever I hear it – in a good way of course (^^) he is one of the best seiyuus around today so keep an eye on him…he’ll be appearing in many anime series!

Right, now I should REALLY focus on La storia della Arcana Famiglia! Tomokazu Sugita plays Pace so I’m very happy (^_^)
