Kenichi Suzumura

I feel like I’ve fallen off the edge of the earth. I’ve been away from this blog in what feels like forever. Mummy’s sorry for abandoning you! It’s just that she needs to pass her exams and she might get into trouble if she doesn’t…

Kenichi Suzumura is a Japanese voice actor and singer raised in Osaka Prefecture. He married fellow voice actress Maaya Sakamoto in 2011.

Acting Career

Kenichi is known for voicing Morley in Macross 7, Hikaru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club, Shinn Asuka in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, Sougo Okita in Gintama, Lavi in D.Gray-man, Ryutaros in Kamen Rider Den-O and Masato Hijirikawa in Uta no☆Prince-sama♪. He is called ‘Suzu’ and Muraken by Soichiro Hoshi and his fans and ‘Suzuken’ by other voice actors and fans. He is currently part of the group ‘Nazo no Shin Unit Starmen’ with Junichi Suwabe, Daisuke Kishio, Hiroki Takahashi, Hiroyuki Yoshino, Makoto Yasumura, and Kosuke Toriumi.

At the first Seiyuu Awards in 2007, Kenichi was nominated for Best Actor in a supporting role’ and ‘Best Radio Personality’ which he lost both to Akira Ishida and Masumi Asano respectively. At the second Seiyuu Awards in 2008, he won ‘Best Radio Personality’. At the sixth Seiyuu Awards in 2012, he won ‘Best Musical Performance’ alongside fellow voice actors Mamoru Miyano, Junichi Suwabe, Kishou Taniyama, Hiro Shimono and Takuma Terashima for the group ST☆RISH in the anime Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love 1000%.

He left Artvision in 2012 and has found his own talent agency INTENTION.

Musical Career

In addition to performing many different character songs in his voice acting career, Kenichi became a singer signed under the Lantis label. As a solo artist he writes all his songs. In his debut year 2008, Kenichi also became one of the main hosts of the annual live music event Original Entertainment Paradise (OrePara), together with other Lantis-artists Showtaro Morikubo, Daisuke Ono and Mitsuo Iwata.

In January, 2010, he gave his first solo concert tour in Osaka (January 10), Nagoya (January 11), Yokohama (January 23) and Tokyo (January 30). His second live tour, in 2011, was held in the same stops excluding Nagoya (Osaka [April 9], Tokyo [April 17] and Yokohama [May 1]). A percentage of the proceeds from the concert was donated to help the victims of the Touhoku earthquake and tsunami. Because of the power shortage the concert was arranged simple to save power and Kenichi performed all songs in acoustic.

Daisuke Namikawa is a Japanese voice actor born in Tokyo who started acting at the age of eight and is sometimes mistaken for fellow voice actor Daisuke Hirakawa, as their names only differ by one character when written in kanji.

Acting Career

Despite his wide range of voice casting, he is usually cast as young, kind heroes as Mikage in 07-Ghost, Isana Yashiro in K, Fai D. Flourite in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Jellal Fernandes and his counterpart Mystogan from Fairy Tail, Keita Ibuki in Black God, and Hetalia’s North Italy and South Italy, but he is also cast as cold anti-heroes or villains such Ulquiorra Cifer in Bleach, Hisoka in Hunter × Hunter, Kei Kurono in Gantz, Eustass Kid in One Piece and Toutaku Chuuei in Ikki Tousen.

He is the official Japanese dub-over voice actor for American actor Elijah Wood and Canadian actor, Hayden Christensen. Daisuke is in a band with Takashi Fujisaki called Jin-Ger PARADISE, and made a guest appearance in Kiramune Music Festival on November 29, 2009 to sing ‘VoICE’, and ‘EVER DREAM’ (Kiramune theme song) together with other Kiramune Stars. He is the fourth member of Kiramune Artist! His first mini-album ‘I.D.’ was released on June 23, 2010, his second mini-album ‘ROOTERS’ was released on July 13, 2011, and his third mini-album ‘Ring’ was released on February 13, 2013. His single ‘UTAO’ was released on April 4, 2012.

Urm… so… hey guys? It’s been about a week since I last blogged I think? This puts me in a awkward situation (￣^￣)ゞ lets get straight to the point here, it’s not like I can’t be bothered with blogging or me being lazy but I haven’t found the time recently. School is getting more and more stressful than I can remember and I just had a textiles exam on Monday which makes me even more tired. It doesn’t help that I’ve got the sniffles. Anywho, I’m going to introduce the man and voice behind our beloved Izaya Orihara and Tieria Erde… Hiroshi Kamiya!

Hiroshi Kamiya is a Japanese voice actor born in Matsudo, Chiba, Japan who works for Aoni Production. He is best known for being the voice of Nozomu Itoshiki from Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei and Tieria Erde from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He won ‘Best Lead Actor’ and ‘Best Personality’ at the third Seiyuu Awards and ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the second Seiyuu Awards. Did you know that Hiroshi named his cat ‘Nyanko-sensei’? Rather cute me thinks! He also has a black belt in karate which is pretty badass in my book. On a more serious note, in 2006 he had a traffic accident which left him hospitalised for two months.

The amount of views I get on my blog have decreased dramatically over the last few days leaving me to think of why the reason is. I’ll admit that it is my fault for not posting here regularly but it would be really helpful if you guys could tell your friends about this blog or anyone that you know is a huge fan of anime. Tetsuya Kakihara

I’m back from America! My flight was delayed by two hours so I didn’t take off until 1am this morning in American time. I am so jet lagged (-_-) but it was worth it. America is amazing and I loved everything there! I also did lots of shopping while I was at it! Tetsuya Kakihara is a Japanese voice actor and singer born in Düsseldorf, West Germany who is affiliated with 81 Produce.

Acting Career

Before wanting to become a voice actor, Tetsuya had always longed to live in Japan. He was fascinated by its entertainment culture; he thinks Japan has funny TV shows, and he loved to read manga and watch anime since he was little. So with that in mind, he set off his goal to become a voice actor.

In 2001 at the age of 18, Tetsuya went to AMUSEMENT MEDIA Academy (a vocational school for voice actors and artists) to study voice acting. As first, it wasn’t a smooth road for him to get in, as the school was surprised he actually came all the way from Germany after receiving a prompt email from him 3 days ago. He sincerely requested the school to accept his application and when they officially accepted him, he found temporarily housing at a friend’s house.

And so, while he attended voice acting courses, worked part-time jobs, and also improved his Japanese through part-time school, he debuted as a professional voice actor in 2003.

In 2007, at the First Seiyuu Awards ceremony in Japan, he received the ‘Best Male Newcomer/Rookie’ award for his nominated role of Yutaka Mikoto, from Princess Princess.

Tetsuya is very active in voice acting roles in Japan, and is capable of doing a broad range of voices in his works. In anime, he is well known for voicing roles as young boys with a ‘fiery’ personality, for example Natsu from popular anime Fairy Tail. In gaming and drama CDs, he plays teenagers/mature roles, and is known for his unique soft, sweet, and mysterious voice- mainly in otome games, like Shin from the PSP game series, AMNESIA. Like other Japanese male voice actors, he is also active in yaoi-themed drama CDs and anime, and usually plays the uke part, like Akihito from the Finder series, a work of popular boys love by manga artist, Ayano Yamane.

Musical Career

From 2010, Kakihara is affiliated with Kiramune, a music label by Bandai Visual Co., Ltd. and Lantis, where he debuted as a singer with his first mini album “Still on Journey“. His first single is called “String of pain”, was released on February 6, 2013 and is used as the ending theme song for anime Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East in which he also voices the main role as Shino Inuzuka. His 3rd mini album is scheduled to be released in March 13, 2013.

An interesting and talented fact about Tetsuya is that he is trilingual; fluent in German and Japanese and near-fluent in English. He used to know five languages: German, Japanese, English, Spanish, and Latin. He is the only Japanese person to voice German-speaking characters: Lævateinn, Graf Eisen and Strada, in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.

He is nicknamed Kakkii. His hobbies are snowboarding and his skills are magic tricks, social dancing and snowboarding.

Satoshi Hino

I’m going to America today! Whoop whoop! I’ve never been so excited before, it feels like Christmas all over again. Satoshi Hino born in San Francisco, California is a Japanese American voice actor. He has collaborated with Rie Kugimiya in some anime as protagonists, notably in Shakugan no Shana, Zero no Tsukaima, Gintama and Nabari no Ou.

Acting Career

Satoshi Hino has collaborated with voice actress, Rie Kugimiya, on more than one occasion:

• In Gintama, Satoshi voices Kamui and Rie voices Kaguma, Kamui’s younger sister.
• In Shakugan no Shana, Satoshi voices Yuji and Rie voices Shana.
• In Zero no Tsukaima, Satoshi voices Saitou and Rie voices Louise.
• In Nabari no Ou, Satoshi voices Koichi and Rie voices Miharu.

Hey guys! Sorry this post is late, I’ve been pretty busy at school so it’s been a bit tiring and stressful. I would start watching Campione! but I need to relax a little otherwise I’ll lose it, so I’ll do a seiyuu post on one of my personal favourites.

Takahiro Sakurai is a Japanese voice actor who was born in Okazaki, Aichi, Japan.

Acting Career

He is a member of 81 Produce. Many of his roles are handsome and mostly charming men. However, he has also voiced reluctant heroes (such as Mega Man X) as well as the occasional villain (Maximilien Robespierre in Le Chevalier D’Eon, Hiltz in Zoids: Guardian Force and Sasori in Naruto Shippuden). Sometimes, he is also typecast to play angsty and arrogant young men, and also loner characters such as Kira Izuru. More recently, he also provided the Japanese dub voice of Edward Cullen in the Japanese dub adaptations of the Twilight Saga films. He appears to have done a lot of roles with Kenichi Suzumura, for example in Final Fantasy VII, Black Butler and Zombie Loan.

Akira Ishida

Today is the première of AMNESIA and since I can’t contain my excitement, I thought that a seiyuu post on one of the voice actors starring in the series would be a perfect way to start off my evening!

Akira Ishida is a Japanese voice actor born in Nisshin, Aichi, Japan.

Acting Career

Akira was a part of Mausu Promotion (formerly known as Ezaki Production, until its 1990 change of name) from 1988 until March 2009. He is the member of Gerbera Peerless Ltd. He is currently a free lance voice actor with no company representing him.

For his portrayal of Athrun Zala in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, he won the ‘Best Male Supporting Character’ award at the first Seiyuu Awards in 2007 and was chosen as the most popular voice actor in the Animage Anime Grand Prix in 2004 for his portrayal of the character Athrun Zala.

I find it strangely odd that Akira voiced Fisheye in Sailor Moon… I grew up with that anime and to find out like this only made me laugh xD my childhood anime has the grace of one of my favourite seiyuus ever O_O I think I may be a bit scarred by this. Why? Fisheye looks like a girl and the voice sounds so feminine, it’s beyond creepy! Well, that’s it for now! I’m now preparing myself for episode 1 of AMNESIA so of course I’m mega excited! Yui Horie

What’s better then a seiyuu review when you’ve just finished watching a series where they voice one of the main characters? Well, lets get Yui Horie into the spotlight then!

Yui Horie is a Japanese singer and voice actress born in Katsushika, Tokyo. Her birth name is Yoshiko Horie. She is sometimes affectionately nicknamed ‘Hocchan’ by her Japanese fans.

She hosts a radio show called ‘Horie Yui no Tenshi no Tamago’ and is the founding member of the singing group, Aice5. She is also a member of the band Kurobara Hozonkai, with the name YUIEL.

Acting Career

Yui debuted in 1997 in the video game Voice Fantasia and for several years had minor roles in various anime. She landed her first leading role as Haruka in Kurogane Communication. The turning point in her career was not until 2000, when she won the role of Naru Narusegawa in the popular anime Love Hina. Other notable and defining career moments were taking the role of Tohru Honda in the anime Fruits Basket in 2001. She has since become one of the most popular anime voice actresses in Japan.

She was affiliated with Arts Vision. However, she eventually left the agency in mid-2007 because of a scandal agency’s top management and became a freelance voice actress unaffiliated with any talent management firm.

Musical Career

Yui formed a temporary unit called Yamato Nadeshiko with the popular voice actress Yukari Tamura in 2001. They released two singles, ‘Mo Hitori no Watashi’ and ‘Merry Merrily’ – the latter of which was an insert song in the Love Hina Christmas Special.

In October 2005 she founded Aice5, a J-Pop group consisting of 4 other voice actors to help launch their careers. Aice5 was officially disbanded on September 20 2007. She is also a member of the band Kurobara Hozonkai, with the name YUIEL.

She has collaborated with a few other artists, such as Unscandal in 2005 and Kurobara Hozonkai, a goth band in 2007.

She has published 7 independent musical albums. Nearly all of them incorporate at least one track from an anime she has worked with. She currently releases music under the Starchild label (a subdivision of King Records).

Her radio show is ‘Horie Yui no Tenshi no Tamago’ and it can be listened to on the station JOQR at 10:00 pm on Sundays.

Takehito Koyasu is a Japanese voice actor born in in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

Acting Career

Takehito Koyasu is part of the voice actor quartet Weiß consisting of Weiß Kreuz voice castmates Shinichiro Miki, Tomokazu Seki, and Yuuki Hiro. He used to work for Production Baobab but is now the head of T’s Factory, a voice actor company he founded in 1998.

Takehito is known for his deep, smooth voice, which often lands him in roles that are either villains or lonely bishounen. Recently, though (as in the cases of Mitsurugi Hanagata from Saber Marionette J, Ryo Kuroyanagi from Yakitate!! Japan, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, and Kei Itoshiki from Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei) he has been voicing more and more lively/humorous characters. According to Nakajo Hisaya, the manga artist of the series Hana-Kimi, the character of Masao Himejima was designed with Takehito’s voice in mind; the voice actor ended up voicing this character in the series’ drama CDs.

Takehito is also the creator of the Weiß series, and has authored the manga Weiß Side B. In creating Weiß Kreuz, he was inspired by an old Japanese series called Sure Death.

He often voices under the pseudonym Hayato Jumonji, especially in H anime. He also narrates promotional videos and pre-flight safety videos for StarFlyer.

On September 18 2009, he created velvet underworldseries which is the first drama CD of the series, velvet underworld fragment story#0 “the fool”. In the following month, velvet underworld fragment story#0 “the wheel of fortune” had released as the second drama CD of the series. He called and made the crew of the drama himself. This is said to be another pick of his career after Weiß.

According to the Anime News Network, as of December 2008, he is the most prolific seiyuu in Japan with voice acting roles in 365 anime series.
